 Diese hübsche Ortschaft an der Mündung des Rio Mira verdankt ihre Entwicklung dem Tourismusboom der letzten Jahre. Die ruhigen, schönen Strände an der Vicentinischen Küste sind sehr beliebt, da einerseits ihre Natur noch unberührt ist und sie sich andererseits hervorragend für diverse Wassersportarten eignen. Zu den sehenswerten Bauwerken in der historischen Altstadt zählen das Fort, das zwischen 1599 und 1602 zur Verteidigung gegen die Piratenangriffe erbaut wurde, die Pfarrkirche und der Leuchtturm am Kap Sardão, der aus dem Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts stammt.

 This pleasant town situated at the mouth of the River Mira owes much of its recent development to the great increase in tourism in this region. The calm and beautiful beaches along the Costa Vicentina are much sought after, mainly because they still retain most of their natural features and provide excellent conditions for water sports. There are several interesting buildings in the town´s historical centre, particularly the fortress (built between 1599 and 1602 to defend the town against constant attacks by pirates), the parish church and the lighthouse of Cabo Sardão, built at the beginning of the twentieth century.
